How to Explore New Career Directions Without Burning Everything Down

One of the biggest fears our members share is:
“What if I make a change and it’s worse than what I have now?”
That fear is valid and it’s exactly why we don’t start with big leaps. We start with experiments.
Here’s a simple 3-step way to explore new directions safely:
Step 1: Turn vague ideas into testable themes
Instead of “maybe something more creative,” try:
Roles where I solve people problems
Work with more autonomy
Jobs that mix analysis and coaching
These themes are easier to test.
Step 2: Run tiny, low risk experiments
For each theme, ask: what’s the smallest step I could take in 1-2 hours?
Examples:
Have a 20 minute conversation with someone in that field.
Shadow a colleague doing a part of their role you’re curious about.
Take a short online taster class and notice what energises you.
Step 3: Collect evidence, not just feelings
After each experiment, ask:
What did I enjoy?
What drained me?
What surprised me?
What would I try next?
Over time, these small experiments build a clear picture of what fits you and what doesn’t, without risking your income or reputation.
This is the heart of Chiarezza Careers Academy: Helping you move from “I have no idea what else I could do” to “I have real evidence about what works for me and a plan to move towards it.”
